Maine is one of the six states of New England in the far northeast of the United States. A region full of rolling hills, many dense pine forests, rugged mountains, and a very varied coast. From the jagged rocks in Maine to sandy beaches in Connecticut, countless lakes and vast salt marshes can be found.
The west and north are dominated by the Appalachian Mountains. A hard and rugged country with mild, short summers and long, cold winters. Here stands the cradle of one of the oldest American cat breeds that nowadays makes many people’ hearts beat: the Maine Coon!
