A cat may show little or no symptoms. The first symptom may be sudden death. The following symptoms are possible:
- shortness of breath
- accelerated breathing
- inertia
- sub-temperature
- irregular, weak or unfeeling groin pulse
- paralysis of the hind legs
- loss of appetite / not wanting to eat
- vomiting
- slimming
- heart murmur
It should be noted that not every heart murmur is a sign of HCM, and in all cases of HCM, a heart murmur cannot be heard through a stethoscope.
