Cats with HCM should be spared a little on the one hand and given a little more attention on the other side. It is important not to play too wild with such a cat. Balance and rest are the keywords. Stress should be avoided as much as possible. At least as important is giving the medication on time. If that doesn’t happen, there is a chance of further problems. Often cats with HCM have a bad appetite because they don’t feel as good as a side effect of the necessary medication. The food should, therefore, be not only beneficial for their health but also taste good. Also, overweight cats will have to be prevented because overweight makes an extra call on the pumping function of the heart.
