Treatment

FIP is currently considered an incurable disease. Unfortunately, no drug cures FIP yet. Therapy aims to provide supportive care and to relieve the self-destructive impulse of the disease. Some treatments can give a short improvement in a small percentage of patients. A mixture of corticosteroids plus cytotoxic drugs and antibiotics with the maintenance of fluid and food intake can help. In the future, it may be the combination of immunomodulatory drugs and effective antivirus medication that provides relief.
